How UPF Ratings Work

What it measures: UPF measures the amount of UVA and UVB radiation that passes through a fabric to your skin.

What the number means: A UPF 50 garment blocks 98% of UV rays, allowing only 1/50th of the radiation to reach your skin. A UPF 30 garment blocks about 97% of UV rays.
